Remit Hope began with a recurring insight shared by African diaspora donors: many want to give beyond their immediate family or community, but do not know which local organisations they can trust. Founder Tsitsi Masiyiwa built the model around closing that gap.

Africans living abroad already send money home to support family. The opportunity Remit Hope identifies is broader: many of those same donors also want to support a school, children's home, training centre or other community organisation, but need a trusted way to find one.
Remit Hope connects that intention with selected community organisations and adds a one-to-one matching mechanism. Under the published model, a $1 donor contribution is matched with another $1, creating $2 in project value.
The longer-term idea is to make community giving feel as natural and connected as sending money home, while keeping local organisations at the centre of the work rather than turning them into anonymous recipients.
